Hold Point Statuses

Updated over 2 months ago

Hold points act as gatekeepers in the planning process. They prevent users from proceeding to the next set of activities until prior stages have been completed. There are three states of hold points:

  • Gate Hold

  • Gate Open

  • Gate Complete

Only the Hold Point Owner has the authority to change the status of a gate. For more information about hold points, please refer to this article.

1. Gate Hold

Initially, all hold points are set to "Gate Hold" status, which you can identify as a grey button in the matrix view.

2. Gate Open

To open the gate and allow work to start on the next stage, click on any preceding hold points. A window will appear, enabling you to change the status from "Gate Hold" to "Gate Open". Before saving this change, you must leave a comment regarding the status update.

Once you successfully open the gate, the Hold Point button will change from grey to orange. Keep in mind that you are opening the gate for an entire deliverable, not just for individual packages. For example, a single click can open the gate for the Architectural deliverables to progress from the first stage (Concept Design) to the second stage (Spatial Coordination), while the Mechanical and Electrical deliverables will remain on hold.

After clicking the Hold Point button again, you will have access to the gate history, which includes all related comments. From there, you can either revert the process if additional work is required or mark the gate as complete.

3. Gate Complete

When you select "Gate Complete" it means you have finished all tasks for that stage. This status change will mark all previous activities related to this hold point as completed. Keep in mind that this change cannot be undone, so make sure all activities in the related deliverable have been verified before you proceed.
